Sample: How Can You Tell When a Person is Jealous?
Nobody announces “I’m jealous” out loud — the body gives it away first. In this activity, our young people watch for the tell-tale signs (tight smiles, crossed arms, that too-quick “I’m so happy for you”) and compare them against how someone genuinely pleased for a friend actually behaves — a sharp bit of practice in reading people.
Sample: Are They For Real?
One quiet Australian suburb reckons it’s found a low-tech fix for a giant problem: stopping rubbish from washing straight into the ocean. A viral post claims Kwinana, WA has fitted its drains with strange netted contraptions to catch the mess before it reaches the sea. Cute idea — but is it actually true? In this activity, young people put on their fact-checking hats: tracking down the real source, weighing up whether the claim holds up, and checking whether other councils have followed suit. Equal parts detective work and media literacy — exactly the instinct every young person needs before they hit “share.”
Sample: Cost of Living
Two three-bedroom houses, same layout, same number of bathrooms — one costs double the other, and the only thing that’s changed is the street they’re on. In this activity, our young people go house-hunting for real: searching realestate.com.au for a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home in a handful of locations they pick themselves, logging what they find, then digging into the harder question — why does location alone move the price that much? It’s a hands-on first brush with cost of living and the kind of real-world number sense every young person will thank themselves for later.
